Getting in God's Way - Study Notes

0 comments
Matthew 16 - Jesus Christ (JC) tells his disciples that they're going to have to suffer and they didn't like that. In verse 21 and following Peter was getting in the way and Jeses told Peter to get behind him Satan.
Getting in God's way
1. Is not necessarily talking about getting in God's will, rather as a hindarence as to what God's up to
2. this doesn't mean that we're not supposed to help peopel that are in need
3. of all the gifts of a believer, the people that are going to have the most difficulty not getting in God's way are the people with the gift of Mercy because they see someone and they immediately want to go help them out.
Questions:
1. When do we get in God's way?
2. How do we get in God's way?
Answers:
1. When we begin to interfere when w what G is doing in someone else's life
2. When we get in the way of what G is doing in our own life
primarily deal with with #1
16:13 - who the people say that I am?
Naturally Peter said the rigth answer and JC commended him becuase Peter realized who He was.
2 deal with His mission. this sets the stage and the environment of getting in God's way. That's why Peter was wrong in teling Him not to die.
- must suffer many things for God's will
- they just told Him that He was the Messiah but they failed to recognize how these things must come about even though He said it
- He didn't give them details, he did use the word used the word that means "to be murdered, without justice"
- He gave them just enough to know bc He knew taht they couldn't handle that
v22 - Peter instantly pulled Him aside and began to rebuke Him
-P assumed responsibilty for christ. P was responding probably like most of us
-The only thing he heard taht JC was going to be killed and He was like" no WAY that's gonna happen"
- Peter makes a declaration "It WILL NOT HAPPEN THIS WAY"
- P is responding as a human being and as a man
- He didn't think of the OT as a sacrifice
- Then JC responds just as quickly and instantly dealt with Peter
- = A real conflict between them
- He grieved in His Spirit
- Out of the same mouth is the voice of Satan
- Greek = same phrase in Matthew 4 - JC in the wilderness v8 = Be gone Satan... Jesus uses the same Greek phrase
- Your name means rock but you just fell out of your place
- Before you were a beautiful rock but now you are a stumbling block
- JC was horrified and not angry
- He responded the way He did bc in the wilderness that is EXACTLY the way Satan talked to Him
- JC's ears did not forget the voice of Satan
- A child of God cannot be possesed by the Devil, but the Devil can use ANY child of God who is not discerning and mindful of Satan that can be used to get in the way of God's will
- Demonic Spirits are in this world free to some sense to get in God's way by using Christians
- JC identifies that voice for what it is
- Our first response is to try to alleviate people's pain but not if it gets in the way of God. Only as the spirit of God leads us to.
- God knows that they're going to have to suffer and blow it and fail painfully in order to prevent them from failing in the future to a degree taht they'll NEVER be able to recover
- The reason that JC responded so uickly is that Peter was attempting to affect the plan of God
- He didn't realize that what he was trying to stop had eternal concequences
- If we get in the way we fall along with the person that we're tryign to help
- A parent towards their children can do the same thing
- A friend who is engaged and is being mistreated
- At work there's something that needs to be corrected
what do we do?
- we forget that we might not know the whole story and what God is up to
- We don't know all that's going on in all of someone's life

Racial Reconciliation Definition

0 comments
I haven't written in a while. So here's a book that I am reading:

Being White: Finding Our Place in a Multiethnic World
By Paula Harris and Doung Schaupp

It' spretty good. I like what I have read so far. I especially like the definition that htey have of racial reconciliation because it has Christ in the center. They said that Racial Reconciliation is:

Jesus' power through the cross restoring relationships between the races - replacing relationships characterized by divisions, partiality and the unjust use of human power with a new community based on God's love, justice, healing, and shalom.

I really like that. I will try to keep up with my posts as I read more and more of this book. I actually wished that I could have written some more up here on my earlier blogs, but oh well...

Praise God for leading me to read this book and thank you Ms. Abbey Sheet for letting me borrow it.

Psalm 118

1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

2 Let Israel say:
"His love endures forever."

3 Let the house of Aaron say:
"His love endures forever."

4 Let those who fear the LORD say:
"His love endures forever."

5 In my anguish I cried to the LORD,
and he answered by setting me free.

6 The LORD is with me; I will not be afraid.
What can man do to me?

7 The LORD is with me; he is my helper.
I will look in triumph on my enemies.

8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in man.

9 It is better to take refuge in the LORD
than to trust in princes.

10 All the nations surrounded me,
but in the name of the LORD I cut them off.

11 They surrounded me on every side,
but in the name of the LORD I cut them off.

12 They swarmed around me like bees,
but they died out as quickly as burning thorns;
in the name of the LORD I cut them off.

13 I was pushed back and about to fall,
but the LORD helped me.

14 The LORD is my strength and my song;
he has become my salvation.

15 Shouts of joy and victory
resound in the tents of the righteous:
"The LORD's right hand has done mighty things!

16 The LORD's right hand is lifted high;
the LORD's right hand has done mighty things!"

17 I will not die but live,
and will proclaim what the LORD has done.

18 The LORD has chastened me severely,
but he has not given me over to death.

19 Open for me the gates of righteousness;
I will enter and give thanks to the LORD.

20 This is the gate of the LORD
through which the righteous may enter.

21 I will give you thanks, for you answered me;
you have become my salvation.

22 The stone the builders rejected
has become the capstone;

23 the LORD has done this,
and it is marvelous in our eyes.

24 This is the day the LORD has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.

25 O LORD, save us;
O LORD, grant us success.

26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD.
From the house of the LORD we bless you. [a]

27 The LORD is God,
and he has made his light shine upon us.
With boughs in hand, join in the festal procession
up [b] to the horns of the altar.

28 You are my God, and I will give you thanks;
you are my God, and I will exalt you.

29 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

THE LORD HAS DONE THIS AND IT IS A MARVELOUS THING!!! I KNEW IT! I KNEW THAT HE WOULD NOT LET THE TRUTH BE TRAMPLED BY THE ENEMY'S LIE!!!!

HE IS SOOOOO GOOD!!! THE TRUTH DID COME TO LIGHT!!! THANK YOU JESUS!!

PRAISE THE LORD ALL MY SOUL AND ALL THAT IS WITHIN ME PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!!!!

I COULD GO ON WRITING FOREVER UNTIL ALL THE INK IN THE WORLD IS DRIED UP AND I WOULD STILL NEED TO SAY MORE!! I AM SO GLAD THAT I HAVE ETERNITY TO PRAISE HIM!!!

HE IS AMAZING, WONDERFUL, GREAT, POWERFUL, MERCIFUL!!! THANK YOU DADDY!!!

I HAVE LEARNED AND GIVEN MY HEART TO HIM MORE THAN I HAVE EVER HAD AND HE ANSWERED ME AS HE ANSWERED DAVID WHEN DAVID WAS IN NEED OF HIS ABBA!!!

NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING CAN GET IN THE WAY OF THE PLANS OF THE LORD WHEN HIS SERVANT HAS A WILLING HEART!!!

I WANT TO JUMP AND DANCE AND YELL AND SING WITH PRAISES RIGHT HERE IN THE HALLWAYS OF MY JOB!!! I AM WALKING AROUND WITH THE BIGGEST GRIN AND I AM SURE THAT I AM GLOWING WITH HIS GLORY SINCE I CANNOT STOP PRAISING HIM!!!!

PRAISE HIM!!!

Holy Spirit Revelation - Psalm 85

0 comments
I have read this passage before a while ago and for some reason it struck me, but I didn't understand what it meant. I love it when the Spirit leads to all Truth and opens our spiritual eyes and ears to see and LISTEN. He fills me with so much JOY!!

Here is the passage:

Psalm 85:10-13

10 Love and faithfulness meet together;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.

11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
and righteousness looks down from heaven.

12 The LORD will indeed give what is good,
and our land will yield its harvest.

13 Righteousness goes before him
and prepares the way for his steps.

It might be a little confusing when you first read it; it was for me. Or maybe the Spirit gave you some cool insight :) But, here is what the Spirit told me as I read this a couple of days ago.

When God's Love and our faithfulness meet, our righteousness through Christ gives us peace in any situation. The key is that our faithfulness to Him has to be continual sot hat Christ may bless us from Heaven. As we continue to be faithful to what he has called us to do DAILY DAILY DAILY, THEN will we see that He has walked before us and prepared our way. If we are outside of His will and not being faithful, then we will accept the consequence and punishment of His wrath toward our sin.

LORD be merciful on me as I strive to live a repentant life and be faithful in all my ways to you. Let my ways be mine no longer. LORD search me and know me so that I will have no iniquity before you. LORD search me and know me so that I may know myself: the person you have envisioned and not the person that I am. LORD I desire your heart! LORD I hate anything that is not of you and my heart still has selfishness within me. I want to fully live as Christ Heart embodied in a limited flesh. Only in You can I live in the Spirit an not in the Flesh. I long to see your glory in me again. I long to see your Glory in all creation as you come to get your church! I long for YOU! I am in love with you! I want to be your pure bride. Cleanse me and purify me get me ready for you! LORD you have anointed me... please do not forget your plans for me... please LORD... I know you won't.... I know you have set aside my heart, my current family, and that yet to come to serve you! My household will be a bond-servant of the LORD and only Your Spirit will move us! Only Your Spirit will take us because we will be the floating feather that cannot choose where it goes because it is subject to the wind. I long for you now and I feel you! You always listen! You never turn your face from me and I thank you for your delight in my heart! Continue to speak to your humble servant!! Continue to build your church! Continue to do everything that you have planned for my life!!!
