The Ultimate Touché

Literally laughed out loud!

One Sunday morning an old cowboy entered a church just before services were to begin. Although the old man and his clothes were spotlessly clean, he wore jeans, a denim shirt and boots that were very worn and ragged. In his hand he carried a worn out old hat and an equally well read Bible. The church he entered was in a very upscale and exclusive part of the city. It was the largest and most beautiful church the old cowboy had ever seen. The people of the congregation were all dressed with expensive clothes and jewellery.

As the cowboy took a seat, the others moved away from him. No one greeted, spoke to, or welcomed him. They were all appalled by his appearance and did not attempt to hide it. As the old cowboy was leaving the church, the preacher approached him and asked the cowboy to do him a favour: "Before you come back here again, have a talk with God and ask him what he thinks would be appropriate attire for worship in church." The old cowboy assured the preacher he would.

The next Sunday, he showed back up for the services wearing the same ragged jeans, shirt, boots, and hat. Once again he was completely shunned and ignored. The preacher approached the cowboy and said, "I thought I asked you to speak to God before you came back to our church."

"I did," replied the old cowboy.

"If you spoke to God, what did he tell you the proper attire should be for worshiping here?" asked the preacher.

"Well, sir, God told me that He didn't have a clue what I should wear. He said He'd never been in this church."

God produces fruit through NW CHICAGO YL!!!!!!!!!!

"I am the vine and you are the branches. If a person remains in me and I in him, they will bear much fruit"

YES!!!!

I feel so privileged to have been able to talk to one of our guys and see him come to the LORD last Thursday the 1st of April on our way to lunch.

I had invited Tae to lunch because he was leaving for 3 months to go back to Louisiana to be with his mom and a conversation sprouted about how he wanted to come back because, "he had things to do." So I obviously asked what he had to do and he went on to say, "CAMP! I want to go to Young Life camp!" I laughed and we continue to talk about YL Camp.

Tae has been also going to the Grace and Peace Community Church youth group called Crossfire and has been hearing the Word of God for a while now, so he's been around church, but had never professed his faith. So, when we talked about camp, I kind of tippy-toed around the "religious" reasons of camp for a while until I could not hold back any longer and asked him, "What do you think about all this Jesus stuff?"

Like most teenagers, he answered, "Ummm, I don't know" hahaha. So I asked him, "Well, let me ask you this: Do you think you're going to heaven?" And he told me that he didn't think so because he sinned to much." So I started to explain that I sin too much too, but I'm still going to heaven. I told him to forget everything that he ever learned about God for a second so that I could start a fresh set of questions.

"Tae, do you want to know your destiny?"

"What?" He answered.

"Well, you told me that you believe that there is a God, and that you know that He created you... Right?

"yea"

"Well, would you want to find out why he created you?"

"I guess"

"OK Tae, let me ask you something. You like football right?"

"I LOVE FOOTBALL!"

"OKAY then. Cool. Let's go sign up for a ballet class."

"What? No way!"

"Why not?"

"Because I hate ballet and would NEVER wear tights!!"

"hahahaha"

"That's what I mean then. You were created to like football and for some reason right now you don't like ballet."

"so?"

"Well God created you in such a way that you would not only like football but also be good at it. And He created you in such a way that you don't like ballet. In the same way, God created you in a unique way so that you could do something amazing in your life. Do you want to find out what this amazing thing is?"

"Yeah. That sounds cool!"

"Well remember how you said you sinned a lot?"

"yeah"

"Well even 1 little sin in your life or my life is keeping us apart from the perfect destiny of heaven and the great destiny on earth that God has for us. And this is so because God cannot be where sin is."

"So I'm screwed huh?"

"hahahaha. No! That's what Jesus came to do. He's the one that can allow you to see your destiny!"

"How? What do you mean?

"Well. When we decide to follow Jesus for the rest of your life, He shows us the way to our destiny! When we are not following Jesus, we are walking aimlessly toward things that have nothing to do with what we were made to do and be like. And a really cool thing about following Jesus and discovering your destiny is that your destiny gets inter-twined with my destiny and other people's destiny. This is because part of our destiny is to love one another and be in community be each other to serve each other."

"I think I get it."

"It's like this. You play football so you know about zone defense right?"

"yea."

"Well with a zone defense what happens when 1 person doesn't cover their zone?"

"The whole thing breaks down"

"Exactly. The same thing goes with both of our destinies. Jesus points us towards each other in community, but when one person doesn't want to server others, the team is weaker."

"oh yeah, I get it."

"So just like in your football team, you got a coach that tells you how to read the playbook and all those x's and o's"

"Oh! The Bible is my playbook for life huh!?!?"

THAT LAST STATEMENT MADE MY JAW DROP!

"Yeah! But sometime you need that coach to explain things. I'm your coach :)"

"COOL!"

"So here's something that the Bible says: Romans 10:9-10 roughly says that if you confess with your mouth, understand in your head, and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ was real, was the Son of God, and that God the Father revived Christ from death, then you are saved. Do you understand that?"

"yeah I do"

"Do you believe that?"

"*nods while smiling* yes"

I WON'T EVER FORGET THAT LOOK

"Then that's it!"

"That's it?"

"yeah that's it! You are now following Jesus and He will reveal your destiny!!!!"

"That was easy...."

"Yeah, that was easy but SUPER HUGE... and that doesn't mean that it will get easier... in fact... in might get harder. Jesus doesn't promise that you football game of life will be easy, but He does promise that if you seek Him out and follow the destiny that He created your for, and that if you finish the whole football game of life with your blood, sweat, and tears on your uniform that you will be in Heaven with Him and with me."

"COOL! I can already think of other people that should be on the team with me and need Jesus to find their destinies because they are not in a good place. My aunt and others have tried to explain it but I never got it. This is the first time that I actually get why people follow Jesus."

HE MENTIONED A FEW NAMES FOR HIS TEAM :)

I was trying not to start crying. This was so cool!

- - - -

Later during lunch I told Tae that Heaven threw a huge party that day for him since he is now on the team and seeking out his destiny through Jesus. He LOVED it! He said that now, when he talks to people that party, he's going to tell them that if they really want to party, they gotta get to know Jesus. Hahaha. He was so excited!

Since he was very excited about actually understanding about Jesus, I took him to my house, pulled out my Message Bible, write in it, and gave it to him. I told him that the first place to read in this playbook was John because it talked a lot about what Jesus did and who he is. We looked at John 1 and read John 1:14:

The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.

I told him that the WORD in John 1 was actually Jesus, so he read it again:

Jesus became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood.

He loved reading it because he felt like he could understand it more and realized that he still needed a coach to tell him things like, "The Word is Jesus"

I cannot believe that I had the privilege to be the one that explained this whole thing to Tae. I really look forward to seeing Tae grow in Christ for the next few years as Christ has both of our stories line up for a while. I am truly honored to have been part of this. And as one of our committee members put it, "This is the first kid that came to Christ while you were here, but there's many more to come!! Humboldt Park... WATCH OUT!!!"

Praise God.

Why it Hurts When Somebody Forgets Your Name. A Christian Perspective.

From Don Miller... What do you think?

Yesterday I fired off an e-mail to a friend, only in the e-mail I referred to him by another name. I’d been e-mailing a few guys at the same time and slipped up. My friend e-mailed me back, joking with me, and in a subsequent e-mail, he called me Dan. And even though I’d been the one to first make the mistake, and even though my friend knows and loves me, seeing my name misspelled still stung a little bit. My first thought was that it stung because I was arrogant, after all, I did deserve the joke. But what is it in us that hurts when somebody forgets our name? I actually don’t think it’s arrogant at all. I think it’s by design.

You and I were designed to be friends with God, to be close to Him, to know Him and be known by Him. God gave mankind freedom to walk away, and man did. So now there is a separation. We are separated from the Deity we were supposed to be in relationship with. Without that love, we trade on each others love, which pales in comparison. When my friend saw that I called him by another name, he was reminded of the relationship he was supposed to be in, and reminded how impotent human love can be. He forgave me, but it’s a sad reminder. It’s even sadder because my friend is one of the most loving, other-person centered people I know, and as an introvert, I’m terrible in comparison.

But the news isn’t all sad. Through Christ, we will be reunited with God at the wedding feast of the lamb. We will be reunited with God, because God will look at us and see his Son, and we will have that relationship again. Until then, we are called to love, to work on love, to practice love, because love is what calms people down, comforts them and helps them believe something better may exist. Some day we are going to get the love we were designed to receive. And that thought gives me hope.

The "Happiest Place on Earth" Trully Becomes So...

My friend Dia Becchio sent me this link that she got from one of her pastors in IV CHURCH. I love when Jesus busts out for NO reason. I mean, just look at how this started...a person saying, "it would be cool if" in the privacy of their own bedroom. When we think, "how cool would it be if...." we might be receiving a vision and prophesy from the LORD. Don't brush it away.

Homosexuality and Happiness

I have been in a wonderful discussion with a lot of my Westmont Christian friends over Facebook on proposition 8. I will post everything from that when it's done because it's just AWESOME! A lot of people have some great insight! I also received a private message from someone and I do want to post that because I think it shows an overarching misconception about the difference between happiness versus joy in life as well as some clear verses about the homosexual lifestyle as well as true love. In red is what this person said and in bold black below it was my response.

Pablo, I wanted to give you my thoughts on your thoughts about sin, pain, etc in response to this note. You are obviously right that God doesn't make sinners, however, sexual orientation is not a sin... sexual activity is a sin. All babies are equally sexual, if you rub them while changing their diapers sometimes the friction causes a response. I think you would agree there's no sin in that. When sexual orientation becomes sexual practice, that's when the sin and pain comes in. Now I got married young as a virgin which was not a sin, but I had pain in excess and I was not at peace. Now, I'm a divorced single mom "living in sin" with my baby's father, however, I'm at peace with God and society is accepting of my situation so I feel no pain over my "sin." I know you're familiar with pain regarding sexual adventures (and you know that pain is not limited to homosexuality). Being in theatre, I know a great number of gay and lesbian people. I believe some are made in society and some are born that way. I believe that sexual orientation is part of a person's soul and not their biology and therefore as a person's personality or humanity cannot be proven genetically neither can sexual orientation. The gay and lesbian people I know fluctuate in happiness and pain as everyone does. Those I know who feel the most pain are those who are not commited and searching. I know some commited gay couples who live in supportive theatre environments and they live lives of very little pain.

I understand your concerns from the perspective of a future parent, and as a new parent I've become politically interested for the first time in my life. If you cultivate a healthy relationship with your children they will listen to you... and as they grow they will either decide to continue agreeing with you or go another direction. As a new mommy, I want my daughter to be raised in a world that is tolerant of all forms of diversity so that she'll feel accepted no matter what and make up her own mind based on love and acceptance. Many people live in pain based on feeling like a misfit. Some for orientation or racial reasons, and others because they simply don't fit in. My brother is straight and white and has lived through tremendous pain based on his personality. If those people could find acceptance and have their own peace with God, they'll find happiness.

I did a lot of souls searching, praying, and exploring with God when I was unhappily married. The bible clearly states that divorce is a sin... however, in 1 Cor there are exceptions. Many people in the church condemn divorce as passionately as homosexuality or murder... I felt horrible while I was making that decision. I feel that the words in the bible have passed through the hands of many humans to get to us and that God's true words are that of purity, love, and commitment. If a homosexual couple is married, loving, faithful, and at peace with God, I don't see the sin in that. God gave us free will and his word as guidelines for happiness, it's in the combination of those two that we can asses our humanity and our relationships with him and each other.

AND HERE IS MY RESPONSE....

Hi [friend],
Good to hear from you :) Thanks for your response. I agree with you that a homosexual orientation can be either nature or nurture. one thing to point out is that there is nothing that is a hard biological and genetic fact that shows that homosexual orientation is indeed genetic. However, it is 100% proven that homosexual orientation can be because of how a person is raised and because of their societal influences. I am completely willing to say, however, that there is a chance that homosexuality can be a genetic trait. Because of that, I, like you, focus on what the Bible says in that the behavior is a sin: lust, adultery, fornication... which applies to a male-male or female-female relationship.

I disagree about pain though. At least in some part. If there is sin, there is pain. There is no place where sin can dwell in that there is no negative repercussion. Therefore, a gay couple that is obviously in sin has to be in pain, whether or not they recognize it. And if it's not immediate superficial and easily recognizable pain, it's an inherent and deep-rooted need for Christ in their spirituality that is not met.

About your brother, I'm so sorry to hear that he's lived what seems to be consistent pain due to his personality. I like [your brother] :) Always did.

I feel that God is love. It says so in the Bible at least, so I believe it :) We as humans, however, are not called to happiness, but to joy. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that we are to seek happiness, but it's plastered from beginning to end that joy in Christ is what we are called to pursue. So, to me, the fact that two people are "happy" but they both live in a sinful lifestyle does not warrant my acceptance of their acts being okay. It's the exact opposite. Seriously though, it's so black and white to me when in Leviticus 18:22 is says - "Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable." And when Leviticus 20:13 says - "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads." Of course we're not going to kill someone, but these are God's laws to humanity. And we have to be culturally relevant as far as putting someone to death, but when the Old and New testament say that homosexuals who practice homosexuality will not inherit the Kingdom of God, I do see the sin in that.

Also, about love, the Bible says that God is love and that if a person does not know God they don't know true love, then it's pretty evident to me that two people that are not Christians do know really know love, but something other than true love. The verse is in John 4:7-19. Verse 7-8 say - "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." If we take and inverse the last part of verse 7, we can say that if someone does not know God, then they do not know love.

When you say "God gave us free will and his Word for happiness" I think that happiness needs to be replaced with joy. If we, as inherently sinful human beings seek happiness, then we will seek a selfish happiness that benefits us. However, if we seek joy from Jesus Christ, then we can live in unhappy times that occur constantly in our lives, but we live in the joy of Jesus who saved us. Then can we really love, then can we really be at peace with God. No on can be at peace with God when they are in sin.

Greetings!

"Reformation Momentum"

Prophetic Word from Sherry Tait, prophetessOct. 29, 2008

For the Lord says, "I am releasing high level anointings of My spirit. These anointings include prayer and intercession for the nations. For My people are beginning to understand the Power of ONE, the power of united intercession proceeding out of the heavens with thunder and lightning to impact the nations.

"For I have called you My people, My Overcomers to take the and render powerless all false authority, all false gods and dethrone their power. For now, in this Third Reformation, there is a momentum that is building. For you have been called out as My Reformers, and now shall the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of our God, and His Christ, His anointed ones. For I am gathering together out of the four corners of the earth, as ONE VOICE, the voice of authority. For you shall RULE the nations with a rod of iron. Righteousness and justice are the foundation of MY THRONE!! Let MY VOICE be heard. For I will gather you in 3-fold cords of agreement and power, unity and love, authority and dominion.

"Reformation Prophets and Apostles... Arise! Marksman, you are to take the high places. For these high places of influence the enemy has illegally occupied will wonder what "hit" them. For in the realm of My Spirit I am setting forth My commands," says the Lord. "I am naming names, so I would have you intercede over those I give specific names I reveal to you. For I am going to cause many notable "conversions" to take place in this season says the Lord. For I would have you to pray & decree over the 7 mountains of influence: business, government, media, arts and entertainment, education, the family, and religion.

"For there is a MOMENTUM now in the realm of My spirit among my people and APOSTOLIC PRAYER IS GOING FORTH," says the Lord. "My authority is going forth from the mouths of My faithful Intercessors, Apostles and Prophets. The Mantles of My Wisdom and Understanding have been released," says the Lord.

"For you shall see with your eyes the turning of many events, and the hearts of many turning to righteousness. Be encouraged today My people, for nothing shall by any means harm you, if you continue in Me and Abide in Me. For I AM your Fortress, Your Shield, Your High Tower, Your deliverer. I have already outsmarted the enemy, for I have released a 'Saints Movement,' a grassroots movement of My Spirit in the earth that cannot be stopped.

"My anointing and Glory cannot be stopped. My Word sent forth from My messengers cannot be stopped. For when one door seemingly closes, I will move and arrange My glory to come in another Way. For I AM the Waymaker.

"The Government IS upon My shoulders, and I have released my Elect into the earth to govern with a judicial, legislative, and executive anointing of rulership. I have released the power to bind (declare unlawful) on earth what is ALREADY BOUND IN HEAVEN!! And to loose on earth what is already LOOSED IN HEAVEN!!

"These are not just lofty words, but spiritual realities. They are a reality in the earth now, and the MOMENTUM of My anointing and glory shall continue, and the Leaven of righteousness Shall Increase," says the Lord.

"For all things work together for good, to them who are called by my name."

Prophetic Word from Heart of the Father International

He fam and friends and other brothers and sisters in Christ that stumble across this on the web. Please read this and have the Holy Spirit confirm this in you. Not anything other than the Spirit of God. Read these next paragraphs with an open heart and open mind. Be skeptical if you fall along the lines of a doubting Thomas. That's okay, because the LORD will let you feel his side. But read this...

My friends Dia and Mike Becchio sent me this and I think it's crucial to read this. As I read this I was not sure about it. However, sitting at my desk, I felt the Holy Spirit reveal truth to me, speak to me, and remind me of things that are happening in my own life that confirmed this prophesy in my own heart.

Heart of the Father International Ministries Newsletter"THE ORACLE" Volumn III

Dear [friends], We want to draw your attention to the International Gathering of Apostles and Prophets at Christian International (IGAP). Incredible decrees and revelations are coming forth. These words are very strategic and will build your faith, friends. We want as many as possible to hear this present truth.

It's vital the saints get these important "now" revelations.

The following prophetic word sent forth by Prophetess/Dr. Sharon Stone on Sunday (the 19th) is very powerful and timely. Because of the great shifting in economics, politics, etc. (which will affect each of us personally) it is important to have an accurate, prophetic perception. We believe IGAP is offering strategic prophetic and apostolic revelation for you and the Body of Christ.
(See the notes on her word below.)

The Apostolic decrees being released at IGAP will catapult the faith of the saints right now. These are "power releases;" we are coming into agreement with them for you and the body of Christ in the earth.

Last night's message by Bishop Bill Hamon discussed the Third and Final Reformation of the Church (which we are currently in). God is calling up the reformation and individual reformers. Change is in the atmosphere. God's reformation will affect us all personally, in every area of our lives. The seven mountains, or kingdoms of this world (business, government, media, arts and entertainment, education, the family, and religion) will become the kingdoms of our God and His Christ.

An update for all of our friends: we plan to be in FL for the next few weeks. We will then be available for ministry.

You can order the IGAP messages by calling Christian International at 850-231-2660. Ask for Sarah. (Far more was released than the small portion included in Sharon's notes below.)
We highly encourage you to tune in to the International Gathering of Apostles and Prophets streaming live on the web daily and nightly this week during the conference:

"Prophet Sharon Stone
"Notes from: Sunday, Oct. 19, 2008
"We have not because we ask not. We pray everyday for CI so we are always getting a fresh word for here. For the last 10 days I have been ready to explode with the word the Lord has downloaded. I wasn't planning on coming to IGAP this year because of everything going on in Europe, but when I received this word I knew I had to come. This past summer I haven't gone many places. Greg kept asking me if I was going to take a meeting. That was not like me. I am usually not content to sit at home. So I know it was the Lord.

"My spirit was full of expectancy of what is about to take place. This is a day of decision just like Joshua in the valley of decision. The Lord is saying, "Are you with me or against me?"
"The horse of panic has been let out of the barn. Watch the news and keep your sword handy to cut off panic and fear. Doomsday prophets are busy. Whatever happens we must align ourselves with God to be a part of the greatest wealth transfer ever to take place. During economic downsides there are more millionaires made. God's people need to know Kingdom economy vs. the world's economy. We need to know what to take dominion over, engage in and invest in. We need to read the signs of the times with the Issachar anointing and position ourselves for the shift of wealth to take over the new supply lines. There is a war over wealth. The nations are warring over wealth. Lands move their boundaries, which is not about the land, as such, it is about the supply lines. This is the new level. We need to see those things. Then, what to do to watch over the money... Of All the Earth!

"The Bible says, "The kingdoms of the world have become the kingdoms of our Lord Jesus Christ." God is watching to see where true authority is, those willing to pay the price of headaches and heartaches from handling it. He is seeing if he can trust you when tested in this area. There is bankruptcy in the world but no bankruptcy in heaven. Our chapter 11 is in Hebrews (the faith chapter)! People are not hopeful in the world. "September Will Convince You that You Must Connect to His Economic System"

The following is a prophecy given by Dr. Sharon Stone in Glasgow, Scotland in the summer of 2008. The notations in RED are fulfillment of the word, but are not part of the word given.

"September is a Turning Point "September is a turning point and a sign of the times. It is all about those who have made Godly alignments in this season being blessed with revelation and information in the midst of world crisis. "I see more banks will suffer: a USA world bank's shares are in trouble (Lehman Brothers files bankruptcy, September 15, 2008). I see government in the USA bailing out mortgage giants (Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - Federal takeover, September 7, 2008) and the government in England cutting house purchase taxes for the sagging housing crisis (Stamp Duty Tax change announced, September 2, 2008) to no avail. "I see a European airline failing with no notice (XL files bankruptcy, September 12, 2008).
"I see the eyes of the world looking to see, 'Who is this coming out of Alaska?' (Sarah Palin announced as McCain's running mate, August 29, 2008). And I see smoke coming from the Chunnel (Fire in the Chunnel, September 11, 2008).

"As I see these things, I hear the encouragement of God to His Isaacs in the earth who sow in the times of famine and reap 100 fold in the year. I'm not a prosperity preacher, I'm a prophet. And God is saying that September will convince you that you must connect to His economic system. There are always the few that are greatly blessed when the majority are shaken, threatened and fearful." God says, "Have you positioned yourself for THE NEW? Your storehouse is not an earthly bank. Hold on and I will bail you out of your mortgage issues. Am I not better to you than any government? I will not leave you stranded on foreign soil, and I will carry you above the circumstances better than any plane or jet. And your hope is not an Alaskan saviour, but Me." I know that sounds strange, it does to me also. "England, the smoke I saw coming out of the Chunnel is a warning for your intercessors to arise and cut off the enemy's plan to sabotage and siege England's favor in trade. Let him who has ears hear.... "God, I release an Isaac anointing upon us now!"

"On my birthday, Sept. 20th, I knew I had to go to church and release the word the Lord had downloaded before the papers came out: Sept. 21, 2008, at 9:00am: It has begun, the beginning of a new financial kingdom system and the end of the old economy. Those who have ears to hear there will be increase. A new global economy will exist and the banking crisis will continue for the next 3 yrs. In the long run (2009) tell my servants it will be for their benefit. He is looking for prophetic economists. There is no recession in heaven.

"You cannot afford to be separated from my prophets. They will speak change into the government. Elijah said there would be no rain for 3 1/2 years. This created a financial crisis. Wealth will be brought to the widow. I will sustain nations that will align with my economic plan. Revelation will come to my church. Resist fear on behalf of the nations. Elijah had already heard the abundance of rain. Run and operate in and from the new global economy. Old market trends will not work anymore. The economy cannot be fixed the same way when the market crashed in 1929. Endure the pain and receive the rain. Global economy will not operate the same way. Do not continue in credit card debt. Do not trust in the value of the U.S. dollar.

"I will assist you and give you strategies in this season. Sow sacrificially (like Isaac-Gen.26:12) in time of famine. Distribute, invest, buy with discernment in fertile, good ground, wisely, and cultivate a storehouse. The Prophetic Word is all about preparation. Dig ditches as the King of Israel did to fill them up. Start paying yourself (savings accounts=storehouses). Start cooperating with the Lord. When you dig ditches the wealth will come in unusual ways, unprecedented ways, but it will come. Take possession of the supply lines. Open up the gates of supply. (Declaration that the Gates would open up) Lord, release assets that you have already prepared for your people. Bring forth the short fall of financial institutions and get rid of toxic assets. Release the wealth that is stored up for your people. Man's bailout is soft! My bailout is strong and will under gird my people. When you see bread lines see this as a sign for the new strategy. Be equipped for every good work. Government is not the benefactor. We should be moved by compassion and give to the poor.

"Be led by the Spirit to challenge for dominion with strategies of increase. Pay who you serve. There will be new rules for hedge funds (no rules right now). Regulation in hard areas. New rules! Tough regulations across borders. Restrictions on credit rating companies. Limitation on CEO's. New restrictions on tax havens such as Monaco. When nations come together to discuss economics pray for the leaders to have discernment, strategies, truth, and lies to be exposed. Align those that will come into agreement with the new kingdom economy and cut off the ones who refused. Between Allies is the war of dominion. Overhaul of monetary funds. Surely they will consider the poor and fill their baskets. They will be liberal with information to unpack and operate with wisdom. Lord, release financial strategies and let us fill the atmosphere with praise. Release the war cry! (A shout!).

"Down with the bear and the bull market. Lord, teach us the Lion's Market. Release discernment and protect pensions and jobs and people's homes. Lord, I need you to be behind me and keep me hidden from any blindsides of the enemy. Give us a new level of discernment.

I preached on "What is Sin Today"

So I preached on this and it went GREAT!...... I think :)

I mean, you know when you are doing something that you are called to do and you cannot find ANYTHING that gives you more pleasure? Well that's how I feel every time that I preach. Sure I remember the first or second time that I preached in front of the church and I was SOOOO nervous that my 30 minute sermon became a 10 minute semi-sermon, haha.

I preached in Spanish at the East Side morning service and in English and Spanish at the West Side evening Bilingual Service it was awesome! I loved it! I loved every moment of it from the preparation time to the nervousness right before I preach and all the way to the time when I feel beside myself as I give the Word of God to His people.

Thank you God SO much for giving me the honor of doing this... I don't deserve it, but I fully embrace it!

I have my Spanish PowerPoint HERE and my English/Spanish PowerPoint HERE. Also, the video that comes with these powerpoints is HERE (To Download the video right-click on it, and then choose "Save target as"). Feel free to download and use :)

God Bless!

Biblical Definition of Sin

Our Total Human Depravity

The Hebrew Old Testament has some 12 different words to define sin and the Greek New Testament about five. Together they represent seven categories of sin. To fully appreciate God’s unconditional agape love and the incredible good news of the gospel — the truth as it is in Christ — it is important that we first come to grips with these seven categories of sin. They are as follows:

1. A deliberate act against the law of God. See 1 John 3:4. (The King James Version uses the word “transgression,” but the Greek word means “lawlessness,” which is deliberately choosing to live a life of sin.)

2. A mental consent to a temptation or a sinful desire, the sin of coveting. See Rom. 7:7,8. (See also Matt. 5:27,28; James 1:14; Prov. 24:9.)

3. Unbelief, a deliberate rejection of a Biblical truth. See Rom. 14:23. (See also John 3:18; John 16:8,9.)

4. Neglect of known duties or opportunity. See James 4:17. (See also James 2:14; Matt. 23:23; Matt. 25:43-46.)

5. Doing the wrong thing out of ignorance. See Lev. 5:17-19. (See also Luke 12:48; 1 Tim. 1:13.)

6. Our sinful natures, which we inherited from Adam. See Psalm 51:5; Psalm 58:3. (See also Rom. 5:19,20; Eph. 2:3b; Phil. 3:20,21.)

7. A law, principle, or constant force, dwelling in our sinful natures (indwelling sin in the flesh). This makes us slaves to sin. Therefore, holy living, in and of ourselves, is impossible. See Rom. 7:14, 20-23. (See also Luke 11:39; John 8:31-34.)

Note: The first four definitions of sin (#1-4) involve guilt because we choose to commit these sins (guilt involves responsibility or volition). But the last two definitions of sin (#6 & 7), which we all inherit at birth because of the Fall, do not involve guilt (i.e., responsibility) but only condemnation (see Rom. 5:18). While these last two definitions of sin do not involve guilt, they nonetheless make us sinners by nature and, therefore, disqualify us from heaven (see Rom. 5:19; Eph. 2:3b; 1 Cor. 15:50).

What is Sin?

God hates sin. He says that our sins separate us from Him. That those who sin earn its wages—death. Yet what does this mean? Just what is sin? Does the Bible give a clear definition? Now you can know.

The Bible says that you have at least one thing in common with every man, woman and child who has ever lived: “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23). The Bible also says that when (not if) you sin, you automatically earn the penalty of death (Rom. 6:23).

But what is sin—what have you done to earn death?

God says that your sins separate you from Him (Isa. 59:1-2). He cannot hear your prayers, He cannot speak to you through His Word, unless you first repent—change your life—from the way of sin.

But what is sin—what have you done to separate yourself from God?

Even people who have never opened a Bible are familiar with John 3, verse 16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Most understand that God willingly allowed Jesus Christ to suffer arrest, false accusations, humiliation, and endure brutal torture and public execution—sacrifice—all so that His shed blood would pay the death penalty, which each of us have earned. In other words, Christ had to die because of the sins of all human beings—including you!

Once again, just what is sin—what have you done to sentence Christ to death?

When a leading American statesman was caught in a sex scandal, his defenders tried to excuse his actions. They paraphrased Christ, in John 8:7, saying, “He who is without sin, let him cast the first stone.”

Actually, He was speaking to the scribes and Pharisees, who had brought before Him a woman they had caught committing adultery. Testing Him, they wanted to see whether or not Christ would condemn her to be stoned, according to Old Testament law.

Most people who quote John 8:7 do so in order to justify wrong actions. But they fail to read the rest of the scripture: “And they [the scribes and Pharisees] which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up Himself, and saw none but the woman, He said unto her, Woman, Where are those your accusers? Has no man condemned you? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn you: go, and sin no more” (vs. 9-11).

This is vital. Christ commanded her to stop sinning—but what did He mean?
The Bible Definition

Many religious leaders teach that Christ died for our sins. They teach that His shed blood cleanses us from sin. They preach about being set free from bondage to sin. They preach about freedom from keeping God’s law. But have you noticed that they never define what sin is—that they never challenge people to look into their Bibles to see how God defines sin?

If they did, they would have to tell you to read I John 3:4, where the Apostle John wrote, “Whosoever commits sin transgresses [breaks] also the law: for sin is the transgression [breaking] of the law.” When you sin, you break the law.

But what law?

The Apostle Paul wrote, “What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law” (Rom. 7:7). God’s law reveals sin.

But what law was Paul writing about?

“…for I had not known lust, except the law had said, You shall not covet” (same verse). This is the Tenth Commandment, found in Exodus 20:17 and Deuteronomy 5:21. The law that Paul and John referred to was the Ten Commandments. Both apostles taught that when you break them, you sin.

John also wrote, in I John 5:17, “All unrighteousness is sin.” Since God’s commandments are righteousness (Psa. 119:172), then unrighteousness—sin—must be the opposite. It is breaking God’s commandments.

The Apostle James expanded upon this. He taught that “whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend [sin] in one point, he is guilty of all. For He that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if you commit no adultery, yet if you kill, you are become a transgressor of the law [a lawbreaker]” (James 2:10-11). James was referring to the Ten Commandments.

Even though it is possible for people to go through life without ever physically committing a murder or adultery, or stealing or lying, nevertheless, all have sinned. How can this be? Because even though we obey the letter of the law, we can still break the spirit of the law—and this is also sin.

Paul, calling the law “holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good,” also taught “that the law is spiritual” (Rom. 7:12, 14).

Christ magnified and expanded the letter of the law, revealing its spiritual intent. “You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shall not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart” (Matt. 5:27-28).

Sin begins in the mind. What you think eventually becomes what you do (Prov. 23:7)! “But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart [mind]; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders [Sixth Commandment], adulteries [Seventh Commandment], fornications, thefts [Eighth Commandment], false witness [Ninth Commandment], blasphemies [Third Commandment]: These are the things which defile a man” (Matt. 15:18-20).

James 1:14-15 shows that when men entertain wrong thoughts, they will eventually produce wrong actions. “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust has conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death [the wages of sin].”

For example, every war, every battle, every fight throughout history has happened because men have coveted something that did not belong to them. And because men have failed to control their carnal desires, we live in world wracked by the pain, suffering and anguish of war (James 4:1-2).
Example of Lust Conceiving Sin

The Bible records a tragic, historic example of how one man’s lustful thoughts conceived sin—lawbreaking—and gave birth to death. That man was King David.

One spring evening, as David walked on the roof of his palace, he spotted a naked woman who was washing herself (II Sam. 11:2). Instead of looking away, putting her image out of his mind, he stared at her. He allowed his mind to entertain wrong thoughts—David broke the Tenth Commandment.

This sin led him to ask about her (vs. 3). He discovered that she was Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah, one of his most trusted servants. But this did not stop David from committing adultery with her (vs. 4), breaking the Seventh Commandment. David also broke the Eighth Commandment by taking what did not belong to him—Uriah’s wife.

These sins resulted in David and Bathsheba conceiving an illegitimate child (vs. 5). Wanting to cover up the pregnancy, David tried to deceive Uriah, who had been away, faithfully fighting a war for his king. Recalling him from the frontlines, David tried to deceive Uriah into sleeping with Bathsheba, so that Uriah would think that the unborn child was his (vs. 6-13). These actions broke the principle of the Ninth Commandment.

When Uriah refused to sleep with her, David’s growing mountain of sins led him to use his enemies to murder Uriah (vs. 14-17)—thus breaking the Sixth Commandment.

What had begun with evil thoughts soon led to multiple sins—lawbreaking—and eventually led to murder. Sin always spreads and compounds itself.
God Hates Sin—Lawbreaking

Eventually, David repented. He came to see his sins the way God saw them—as terrible lawbreaking—iniquity. That is why David wrote, in Psalm 5:4-5, “For You are not a God that has pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with You. The foolish shall not stand in Your sight: You hate all workers of iniquity [sin].”

After God had freed the Israelites from slavery, fed, protected and provided for them, gave them the Promised Land, and fought their battles for them, they still continued to sin—to break His commandments. “Yet they tempted and provoked the Most High God, and kept not His testimonies: But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow. For they provoked Him to anger with their high places, and moved Him to jealousy with their graven images. When God heard this, He was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel” (Psa. 78:56-59). God cannot, will not, tolerate sin or those who practice it! He would never allow such people in His kingdom.

Solomon, David’s son, wrote in Proverbs 15:26, “The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD.” This is because God knows that, if unchecked, wicked thoughts always produce wicked actions, as in Jeremiah 44: “So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which you have committed…because you have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in His law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies…” (vs. 22-23).

Sin—breaking God’s spiritual law—cuts us off from God. “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that he will not hear” (Isa. 59:2). And Jeremiah wrote, “Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you” (5:25).

When God used His prophet, Nathan, to confront David, David begged God to “Cast me not away from Your presence” (Psa. 51:11). He acknowledged his transgressions—his lawbreaking—to God, saying, “my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, have I sinned, and done this evil in Your sight: that You might be justified when You speak, and be clear when You judge” (Psa. 51:3-4). David pleaded with God to “blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin… Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow… Hide Your face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God” (vs. 1-2, 7, 9-10).

God heard and forgave.
What it Means to Sin—Break the Law

When the Bible says, “For all have sinned,” it means that everyone has broken God’s law. When it says, “the wages of sin are death,” it means that your lawbreaking automatically earns you the death penalty. When God says that your sins separate you from Him, He’s talking about you breaking His law.

Sin is breaking God’s law!

Amos 7 - People of God Tremble

I don't want to be a stubborn mule in any area of my life or in anything that I am doing for the LORD. Of course whether I am at work or in my house, I do EVERYTHING for the LORD. So, Verses like these make me tremble and remember that while the LORD is loving and prefers mercy over punishment, He sometimes goes with punishment when His children just don't learn.

In Amos 7:7-8 the Word of God says this:

The LORD has sworn by the Pride of Jacob: "I will never forget anything they (ISRAEL) have done.

8 "Will not the land tremble for this,
and all who live in it mourn?
The whole land will rise like the Nile;
it will be stirred up and then sink
like the river of Egypt.

Then, a few verses later in verses 11-12, Amos writes the following:

11 "The days are coming," declares the Sovereign LORD,
"when I will send a famine through the land—
not a famine of food or a thirst for water,
but a famine of hearing the words of the LORD.

12 Men will stagger from sea to sea
and wander from north to east,
searching for the word of the LORD,
but they will not find it.

I DO NOT EVER WANT TO HAVE THE LORD RESTRAIN HIS WORD, HIS VOICE, FROM ME BECAUSE OF MY ACTIONS OF DISOBEDIENCE OR STRAYING. He has done that before for a time and while it was what I needed to come back to Him in full force, I don't ever want to experience that thirst in that way again. That desert that I crossed was NOT fun.

Also, this is a warning to the Church. The LORD always speaks to His Church, but He will restrain His Voice and Word when His people are not doing His Will. And this goes to the Church, local churches, and to individuals all alike. Because in every level people can be disobedient to the LORD and not be taking care of the LORD's purposes...

My prayer:

LORD make me a servant and follower of your will. I don't want to stray even just a little bit. I don't ever want to stagger from sea to sea searching for your Word. I want to have it hidden within my heart; engraved into my being to beat down my flesh into submission.

Thank you LORD that you remind us about the past to keep us with You in the present.

Youths increasingly shunning Christianity, poll finds

This is an article that I stumbled on today and I think that it's important enough to spread and for Christians and non-Christians alike to read and TAKE NOTICE!!

The article was originally written by:
By Tom Jacobs, Correspondent, Saturday, November 3, 2007...

The original can be found here but it's below for your convenience :)

Young Americans are increasingly turning away from Christianity and expressing negative views of the faith, according to a startling new survey by Ventura-based Barna Group.

Only 60 percent of 16- to 29-year-olds describe themselves as Christians, according to Barna Group President David Kinnaman. He believes that figure represents "a momentous shift," noting that 77 percent of Americans over age 60 consider themselves Christians.

"Each generation is becoming increasingly secular," said Kinnaman, who details the findings in his new book "unChristian" (Baker Books).

What's more, young people — Christians and non-Christians alike — feel increasingly disillusioned with the church, according to the results of Kinnaman's three-year research project involving 305 churchgoers and 440 outsiders.

Among young non-Christians, nine out of the top 12 perceptions of Christianity were negative. Large majorities called the church judgmental (87 percent), hypocritical (85 percent) and too involved with politics (75 percent).

Seventy-six percent said Christianity is based on "good values and principles," but many expressed the view that the church has turned away from the teachings of Jesus. Only 16 percent said they have a "good impression" of Christianity.

Even more strikingly, half of young churchgoers agreed with those negative perceptions.

"One of the defense mechanisms Christians use is believing this (unfavorable attitude toward the church) is the result of a negative, or at least skeptical, media," Kinnaman said. "There is certainly some truth to that.

"But what people have told us in this research is they're basing their feelings on their own experiences. Frequently they said, I realize not every Christian is judgmental or hypocritical, but for me, that has been a common experience.'"

Kinnaman and his collaborator on the study, Atlanta-based Gabe Lyons, are both committed Christians, and their book is aimed largely at an audience of church leaders. It is likely to make many of its readers distinctly uncomfortable.

"One of the defining characteristics of youth development in America is going through a Christian church," Kinnaman said. "More than four out of five teenagers will spend at least six months in a Christian church. They tried it, but it was a bad experience. It left a flat taste."

As he was finishing his book, Kinnaman encountered a woman who went through precisely that experience. Checking into a Carpinteria hotel he hoped would provide a distraction-free environment for writing, he struck up a conversation with a woman at the front desk.

"She told me, I was in a church for a while, but I have a son, and every time people tried to help me, they would tell me that being a single mom is not a good way to parent.' "

Not surprisingly, she did not stay in the congregation very long.

"Judgmentalism is a sticky substance that puts distance between our hearts and other human beings," Kinnaman said. "It says that we are somehow better. It marginalizes the other person. That doesn't mean we don't recognize and affirm people's fundamental brokenness, but we also recognize and affirm their fundamental goodness."

Chris Hall, pastor of the recently founded Catalyst Ventura ministry, was not surprised by Kinnaman's findings. "Unfortunately, there is a loud minority within the Christian church that has said some really stupid things," he said. "We need to stop looking at ourselves as people who have arrived at the answers."

One key issue that is alienating young Americans from most Christian denominations is homosexuality. According to the survey, 91 percent of young non-Christians and 80 percent of young Christians describe the church as "anti-homosexual."

Numerous surveys have shown a growing majority of young Americans have a relaxed, tolerant attitude toward homosexuality. A 2001 Kaiser Family Foundation poll found that 60 percent of Americans ages 17 to 29 support same-sex marriage.

"In some ways, homosexuality is the defining issue that has contributed to the negative perceptions (of Christianity), and our response to it will determine how things take shape in the next decade or so," Kinnaman said.

The issue is a tricky one for those who believe the Bible condemns homosexuality (an interpretation not universally shared among Christians, and currently the subject of heated debate among Episcopalians). In Hall's view, part of the answer is to stop the loud and vociferous condemnation of what he sees as simply one sexual transgression among many.

"How did homosexuality become such a huge issue for us?" he asked. "As I see it, it's no different than any other sexual sin."

"One pastor I know says, We shouldn't speak about this issue unless we have close friends who are gay,'" Kinnaman added.

Overall, Kinnaman was impressed with the thoughtful and nuanced nature of the responses he received.

"Faith is much more complex than we like to admit sometimes," he said "Some self-described atheists or agnostics will meditate or do yoga as a spiritual exercise. Among Christians, you will also find people who meditate, as well as some who believe in reincarnation.

"So it's very much a smorgasbord of picking and choosing. It's very hard to put your finger on a person and say, Now I've got you figured out.' Labels create distance between us."

Nudity in Art by Christians

I had a thought this morning and I called my best friend Tristan to help me think through it and discuss. I hope that this is the beginning of an online discussion with people that have something to add.

So the thought was this: Is nudity in Christian Art something that honors God, His will, and His desires?

So here's what Tristan and I came up with:

NO. An all around No. I tried to play devil's advocate, but came to a conclusion that I could find no reason why having nudity in Christian art is fully okay with God.

I will state my reason as to why my final answer is "no" and then go over why I disagreed and threw out any of my attempts to say that having nudity in Christian art is okay with God.

I do not think that nudity in Christian art is okay because it takes something that is sacred and that is supposed to be found only within a marriage and exposes it to the world and, therefore, distorting something sacred and holy into something that is less than holy and sacred.

I think that the biggest reason that we could come up with in order to back up our claim is seen in Adam and Eve. We believe that they were arguably and possibly the most physically beautiful human beings in the history of humanity. At first, Adam and Eve, "were both naked, and they felt no shame" Genesis 2:25. However, when they sinned, they covered themselves up because they did feel shame (Genesis 3:7). Who were they covering themselves from? There were no other human beings on the planet and they were also married. And, they weren't covering themselves up from God because God had not yet entered the picture. So, within their marriage, they felt shame for their nakedness.

Another reason to back my claim is that while the body is a beautiful thing, that beauty is supposed to stay and be seen within a marriage only. There is an inner sanctity that the LORD makes within marriage and nakedness that is supposed to be in that marriage only. In the whole Bible I cannot find a passage that talks about nakedness being okay unless it is in the context of being in Heaven or between a wife and spouse or between the LORD and His church/people.

Another reason that I think that naked art is that Paul says that he will not do anything that causes another to stumble even if what he is doing is okay. I am referring to 1 Corinthinas 8 and I feel that I need to place the following verses of chapter 8 here because they are so important to see:

9 Be careful, however, that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak. 10 For if anyone with a weak conscience sees you who have this knowledge eating in an idol's temple, won't he be emboldened to eat what has been sacrificed to idols? 11So this weak brother, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge. 12 When you sin against your brothers in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. 13 Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause him to fall.

Verse 9 states that we must be careful that our freedom does not cause anyone to sin. So, even if was okay to have naked human being in art, which I think is not, we must be careful that it does not cause a weaker brother to sin. And Paul goes on to say in verse 13 that he will never eat meat if it causes other people to sin. So I would apply his reasoning to art and say that Paul would not paint naked people in art if it caused other people to sin. I think that it is a very reasonable assumption to assume that if anyone has art, whether photography or a painting or anything, that has human nakedness, that it would cause a brother or sister that is weaker than us at some level to sin in their minds. This, I think, applies specifically to men that are watching a naked female in a painting or a photograph or other like forms of art that depict a human being naked in a realistic manner.

This brings me to my another: pornography. There is a line that divides "naked pictures that are regarded to as art" from "pornography." I need to try to define it in context of everything that I have previously written above. If any art that has humans being naked is not okay according to God and any of this art that has naked humans can cause another fellow sister or brother to sin mentally, physically, emotionally or in any other way, then I would say that any and all piece of art that shows nakedness can be regarded to as pornography. I think that there are pictures out there that contain naked people and are placed in an art book and most people would regard that as art. But if that same picture is placed on a web site that is for pornography, then it becomes pornography. Then that leads me to ask: where is that line? Is this picture called pornography because it's on the pornography web site or because the picture is pornography.

I went to dictionary.com and this is their definition of pornography:

Sexually explicit pictures, writing, or other material whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal.

Then I think of what SEXUALLY EXPLICIT mean and "sexually"is pertaining to sex, while explicit means "clear." So sexually explicit means that "it's pretty clear that it's about sex." So, another way of writing the dictionary.com definition is to write it like this:

Pictures, writing, or other material that are clearly sexual in nature whose primary purpose is to cause sexual arousal.

So I guess maybe art in which the artist did not mean to have it be sexually arousing cannot be called pornography. But, if that same piece or art is placed on a web site that is for pornography, then the piece of art does indeed become pornography since it is being used to sexually arouse someone. This, I feel, confirms my previous statement that any art that has a naked human being can be a tripping rock that causes a fellow Christian to fall.

My last point is this: culture. I think that everything that I have stated is subject to culture. There are very few cultures, mainly in Africa, that walk around without any clothing; let us call this culture 'Culture A.' So, if that same culture was to draw a portrait of their own, then I think that it is okay since they are used to seeing each other like that and none of them are caused to sin. I think that this point does not come into conflict with my first point that states that nakedness is supposed to remain only within the marriage only if Culture A has a culture that has an understanding that nakedness is wrong. But, as I stated previously in this paragraph, there are cultures like Culture A that see nakedness and do not see sin or commit sin.

Well, I've talked a lot. And I would REALLY appreciate the comments of my friends, colleagues, and others in this subject. Above all, I want to honor God and that is why I am writing this.
