:) This is an awesome poem...

Marginalia

Sometimes the notes are ferocious,
skirmishes against the author
raging along the borders of every page
in tiny black script.
If I could just get my hands on you,
Kierkegaard, or Conor Cruise O'Brien,
they seem to say,
I would bolt the door and beat some logic into your head.

Other comments are more offhand, dismissive -
"Nonsense." "Please!" "HA!!" -
that kind of thing.
I remember once looking up from my reading,
my thumb as a bookmark,
trying to imagine what the person must look like
why wrote "Don't be a ninny"
alongside a paragraph in The Life of Emily Dickinson.

Students are more modest
needing to leave only their splayed footprints
along the shore of the page.
One scrawls "Metaphor" next to a stanza of Eliot's.
Another notes the presence of "Irony"
fifty times outside the paragraphs of A Modest Proposal.

Or they are fans who cheer from the empty bleachers,
Hands cupped around their mouths.
"Absolutely," they shout
to Duns Scotus and James Baldwin.
"Yes." "Bull's-eye." "My man!"
Check marks, asterisks, and exclamation points
rain down along the sidelines.

And if you have managed to graduate from college
without ever having written "Man vs. Nature"
in a margin, perhaps now
is the time to take one step forward.

We have all seized the white perimeter as our own
and reached for a pen if only to show
we did not just laze in an armchair turning pages;
we pressed a thought into the wayside,
planted an impression along the verge.

Even Irish monks in their cold scriptoria
jotted along the borders of the Gospels
brief asides about the pains of copying,
a bird signing near their window,
or the sunlight that illuminated their page-
anonymous men catching a ride into the future
on a vessel more lasting than themselves.

And you have not read Joshua Reynolds,
they say, until you have read him
enwreathed with Blake's furious scribbling.

Yet the one I think of most often,
the one that dangles from me like a locket,
was written in the copy of Catcher in the Rye
I borrowed from the local library
one slow, hot summer.
I was just beginning high school then,
reading books on a davenport in my parents' living room,
and I cannot tell you
how vastly my loneliness was deepened,
how poignant and amplified the world before me seemed,
when I found on one page

A few greasy looking smears
and next to them, written in soft pencil-
by a beautiful girl, I could tell,
whom I would never meet-
"Pardon the egg salad stains, but I'm in love."

by Billy Collins

Online Advertising

Well hello hello Mr. Pablo Otaola. I see you have gotten your first business cards. But why are you not completely stoked on that? What's that? You were just given a promotion? No way! What are you going to be doing? Online Advertising? And what what that? You're going to possibly be involved with in a project to redesign the current web site? That's great!!

LORD, it's all about You and You alone!! I have done nothing but acted on the gifts and skills that You have given me. This is all to praise You and redirect ALL glory to my Father, my Maker... I am merely acting as a machine that is doing what it was supposed to do. Thank You LORD for making all these thing possible and for allowing me to be in a place that can bring you glory through my job. I love You LORD!!!

Liviu Librescu - Virginia Tech Professor Honored

Death and Legacy
Wikinews has news related to:
Shooting at Virginia Tech college in USA; at least 33 dead

At age 76, Librescu was among the thirty-two people who were murdered in the Virginia Tech massacre. On April 16, 2007, Seung-Hui Cho entered Norris Hall Engineering Building and opened fire on classrooms. Librescu, who taught a solid mechanics class in Room 204 in the Norris Hall during April 2007, held the door of his classroom shut while Cho was attempting to enter it. Although he was shot through the door, Librescu was able to prevent the gunman from entering the classroom until most of his students had escaped through the windows.[16][17][18] He was struck by five bullets. Of the 23 registered students, one, Minal Panchal, died.

A number of Librescu's students have called him a hero because of his actions. One student, Asael Arad, said that all the professor's students "lived because of him."[20] Another student, Caroline Merrey, said she and about 20 other students scrambled through the windows as Librescu shouted for them to hurry; she said she felt sure his actions helped save lives.[19] Librescu's son, Joe, said he had received e-mails from several students who said he had saved their lives and regarded him as a hero[10] whilst many newspapers also reported him as the hero of the massacre.

Following the murder of Librescu, his son Arieh contacted the Chabad movement to secure that his father's body would be treated according to Jewish law and that the body was released immediately for Jewish burial in Israel. With the assistance of Gov. Timothy M. Kaine, the body was released on April 17 and brought to New York via police escort.[21] On April 18, Librescu received a funeral service at a Jewish Orthodox funeral home in Borough Park, Brooklyn, New York[19] and on April 20, he was interred in Israel.[22] In his native Romania, his picture was placed on a table at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, and a candle was lit. People laid flowers nearby.[5]

Marlena Librescu stated that her husband's favorite Jewish commandment was that Jews should light Shabbat candles.[23] On Friday eve April 20, 2007, the Chabad movement spearheaded a campaign to light Shabbat candles.[24] Following the funeral, the Chabad on Campus Foundation announced their intention to establish a chapter in Librescu's name at Virginia Tech.[25]

The murder took place on the day after [26] Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day. On April 18, 2007 U.S. President George Bush honored Librescu at a memorial service held at the US Holocaust Museum to a crowd that included many Holocaust survivors:

That day we saw horror, but we also saw quiet acts of courage. We saw this courage in a teacher named Liviu Librescu. With the gunman set to enter his class, this brave professor blocked the door with his body while his students fled to safety. On the Day of Remembrance, this Holocaust survivor gave his own life so that others may live. And this morning we honor his memory and we take strength from his example.

He was a good man and we should honor his actions. However, we should ONLY take strength from the One that can truly give us strength when we are in need. People seem to look for hope in the actions of men and women; but that hope dwindles and everything comes back to the same habitual life that has little hope and no hope in the longterm. My hope is in the One that Reigns forever!

PS - Thanks for the pic and the lead on this guy Jess

Sometimes you sit next to your favorite person in the world and you think that you are dreaming because you think... "How can this be real? So perfectly real?" You dream and beg God to place you in a place where you are complete and when that day beings to be in the horizon it hardly seems believable. God completes people through His power and love; but it is amazing how He completes people through others. Not only how He completes people through others but how He also completes people through one other person. He places people in situations where no matter how you have reacted, how wrong or right you have been, how far or close from His will you feel He STILL blesses you and complete EVERY work that He has started in you. He places you in places that draw you closer to Him. And she draws me closer to Him.... something I have never felt with such magnitude! It's mature, deeply spiritual, intensely freeing, incredible good. God makes things that are good and only through Him are things made perfect. Perfect? This is perfect... I doubted this. I doubted if God had this for me because I doubted if I heard God. And I still am SO cautious to say ANYTHING is from Him in other situations... Man I can totally keep going in attempting to describe how AWEsome He is and in how much AWE I am in... But I won't... at least not now... but I WILL continue to enjoy His gift... HIS HOPE... MY HOPE through HIS covenant...HOPE.....................

Job Update :)

Well, I have been working on this internet project rather diligently in the last 3-4 weeks. I guess they have liked my work because the project keeps getting bigger and bigger. To give you a little bit of history, I started with a simple web research project that just had me go on 200 newspaper web site and add up all the web sites that were 1) free 2) registration only or 3) paid... When my boss saw that I could do graphs and use excel rather easily, he gave me a task to gather a lot of data and design a new media kit that would be better than the current one we have (I'm still working on this). Also, my other boss (I have 3 direct bosses) asked me to help him expand the excel spreadsheet on the web sites and to get a presentation ready that would aid him and another boss in going to the company owner and presenting her why we should go to a registration only web site. The information as to why we should do this is so overwhelming that it would be pretty dumb to keep our web site a paid web site. Our possible revenue could potentially increase 316%!!! RIDICULOUS!! Well, a few days ago this week, my boss came up to me and told me of his intentions. If the owner goes with this proposal, he would want me to be in charge of the online advertising and to be on a group that would have input as to where the web site design should go!! YEAH!!! Since then, I have actually been doing some Javascript coding (very little but a days worth) and really working my butt of getting myself educated on web advertising... I am SOOOOO excited at this opportunity!! Not only would I be doing something with some of the training that I have received due to CS, but I would ALSO be making an extra $1500+ a month!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GOD CAN I HAVE THIS?!?!?! Jesus didn't say "give me this cup" but that's what I want to say, "LORD give me this cup, but your will be done!"

A Dream About J

Ok, so anyone that says that God doesn't speak through dreams is out of their mind!!!

Last night (well this morning between 3:30 and 4 am) I had a dream that included J, some kids, Anna, my mom (as usual), Laura, Luz, Lydia, and some random people. I don't remember all the details, but here is the part that I DO remember. I was driving to my parent's house with Anna and once we got there, we encountered my sister and we started hanging out. At some seemingly immediate point we were approached by some man that said that he was working on a movie and he wanted Laura and I to be in it. So I dropped Anna off at my house and Laura and I went to the place that they were casting people. We ended up having to stay the night. But, since Laura's back was hurting, she had to go home that night to sleep on her bed, but I stayed. The next morning, as we held another casting cut (there were a lot of people there), Laura comes back and tells me that I have to go home and cut the grass. I put that together with the fact that I didn't know why I left Anna at home "alone" (she was with my mom) and I told the producer that I need to go. He was really angry cause he said that he was putting himself on the line for Laura and I, but we both knew that we had more important things like "cutting the grass" lol... No, I had my family and Anna... :) Anyway, I get home and Anna wasn't there for some reason. So I go up to my room and my mom comes up not too long after me and says that J was at the front door and that she wanted to see me. So J comes into my room and she was holding a baby as well as having a little child walking next to her. J ends up sitting on the bed while she holds the baby. I remember looking at the baby and it looked TOTALLY Asian! Not that it just had Asian-type eyes, but it looked ALL Asian: skin tone, eyes, hair, everything. While I looked at the baby, J asked if I liked her baby (I wondered if she adopted...). I don't know why, but I don't think I responded (HEY! it's a dream...). Then she said that she was really sorry about all the things that she said and did and I grabbed her hand and said, "I can do this right? We are friends right? This is a friend thing..." She responded by saying, "Yes we are friends, " and smiled. I woke up that instant and began to pray with overwhelming joy at how awesome the notion of being her friend and reconciliation being brought to our friendship. I started to plead with the LORD to restore our friendship so that my kids and her kids would grow up like cousins like we did and so that we would primarily be able to work together in ministry. I prayed for her and her future husband and I prayed for E as well. I was BEGGING the LORD and rejoicing at the thought of that possibility. Then I fell asleep, but not before I asked the LORD to remind me of this dream so that I could write it down.

LORD, I pray that J and mine's friendship is restored so that we can bring glory to you!! I pray for her and her family and for a miracle to occur so that you can take all the glory and honor that you and no one else deserves!!

Psalm 85

For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm.

1 You showed favor to your land, O LORD;
you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2 You forgave the iniquity of your people
and covered all their sins.
Selah

3 You set aside all your wrath
and turned from your fierce anger.

4 Restore us again, O God our Savior,
and put away your displeasure toward us.

5 Will you be angry with us forever?
Will you prolong your anger through all generations?

6 Will you not revive us again,
that your people may rejoice in you?

7 Show us your unfailing love, O LORD,
and grant us your salvation.

8 I will listen to what God the LORD will say;
he promises peace to his people, his saints—
but let them not return to folly.

9 Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,
that his glory may dwell in our land.

10 Love and faithfulness meet together;
righteousness and peace kiss each other.

11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
and righteousness looks down from heaven.

12 The LORD will indeed give what is good,
and our land will yield its harvest.

13 Righteousness goes before him
and prepares the way for his steps.

So much bigger than I could ever understand. Thank You for showing me that I DON'T understand you! Thank U for showing me that Your blessings surround me and Your wings protect me. Thank You for all the things in my life that I don't deserve!! I don't even deserve the privilege to be punished!! I feel kind of like Peter must have felt that he wasn't worthy to be crucified in the same manner as Christ!! I have been blessed by being able to experience the LOVE of CHRIST through His body: my church. They bless me through their prayers and smiles and hugs; they bless me through their phone calls and dreams and messages. They bless me with their presence. They bless me with all they do to encourage me.

I AM A SERVANT OF THE LORD AND HE HAS MY BACK! HE WILL DELIVER ME AND THE LIES OF THE ENEMY WILL NOT OVERTAKE THE TRUTH THAT IS IN CHRIST!!! THANK YOU LORD FOR THE BOLDNESS THAT CAN ONLY COME WHEN YOUR SPIRIT OVERWHELMS MY; WHEN YOUR SPIRIT TAKES MY SOUL AND LIFTS IT TO THE PEAKS OF THE MOUNTAINS!! OH LORD THANK YOU FOR YOUR PROMISES AND YOUR FIERCE POWER!!

I WIN BECAUSE THE VICTORY HAS BEEN PLANNED FROM BEFORE CREATION!

I WIN BECAUSE THE LORD CANNOT BE DEFEATED!!

I WIN BECAUSE I AM THE LORD'S... I AM A MAN AFTER HIS OWN HEART... I AM DAVID...

A Prayer

Lord I just pray that you surround Anna as she walks into the door of the calling that you have placed within her. I pray that just like you hardened Pharaoh's heart, that you take control of the heart of the lady that is now looking at her artwork. I pray that Anna's hears Your truth through the words of this lady and that you guard her heart against any attacked AND LIES of the enemy. In Jesus' name I pray and bind the enemy and all his angels. In Jesus' name I command all demons within that place that to vacate the area and not come back. And for those that have authority to be there, in the name of Jesus Christ I command them to be quiet and still. Thank you LORD because I know that you are working and that you are leading Anna and have led her to the place that she is in right now. It was no mistake or chance but the guiding of your Spirit in this divine appointment. Thank YOU for your guidance and for taking care of her! Thank you for taking care of her for me! Thank you for her gifts and talents that she has and for how perfectly they line up with mine. Thank you for the joy that she is feeling right now!

Oh, so the lady forgot, but that is within your will as well!! Now she has more time to prepare and get ready. To look more professional and give you glory through that! Thank you because you are sovereign!! Thank you and Praise you because of how things turned out today!! (Now I get to see her) Even though she was playing hard to get - which I like :)

Thank you Lord and thank you for the opportunity to pray with her before she walked in!

TODAY'S ALONE TIME :)

So good! I love this!!

Today I was continuing to read along the Old Testament and I came to read 2 Chronicles 5-6. I really LOVE 6!!

Here is it, may it bless you as it blessed me!!

2 Chronicles 6

1 Then Solomon said, "The LORD has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud; 2 I have built a magnificent temple for you, a place for you to dwell forever."

3 While the whole assembly of Israel was standing there, the king turned around and blessed them. 4 Then he said:
"Praise be to the LORD, the God of Israel, who with his hands has fulfilled what he promised with his mouth to my father David. For he said, 5 'Since the day I brought my people out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel to have a temple built for my Name to be there, nor have I chosen anyone to be the leader over my people Israel. 6 But now I have chosen Jerusalem for my Name to be there, and I have chosen David to rule my people Israel.'

7 "My father David had it in his heart to build a temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel. 8 But the LORD said to my father David, 'Because it was in your heart to build a temple for my Name, you did well to have this in your heart. 9 Nevertheless, you are not the one to build the temple, but your son, who is your own flesh and blood—he is the one who will build the temple for my Name.'

10 "The LORD has kept the promise he made. I have succeeded David my father and now I sit on the throne of Israel, just as the LORD promised, and I have built the temple for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel. 11 There I have placed the ark, in which is the covenant of the LORD that he made with the people of Israel."
Solomon's Prayer of Dedication
12 Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in front of the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands. 13 Now he had made a bronze platform, five cubits [a] long, five cubits wide and three cubits [b] high, and had placed it in the center of the outer court. He stood on the platform and then knelt down before the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven. 14 He said:
"O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven or on earth—you who keep your covenant of love with your servants who continue wholeheartedly in your way. 15 You have kept your promise to your servant David my father; with your mouth you have promised and with your hand you have fulfilled it—as it is today.

16 "Now LORD, God of Israel, keep for your servant David my father the promises you made to him when you said, 'You shall never fail to have a man to sit before me on the throne of Israel, if only your sons are careful in all they do to walk before me according to my law, as you have done.' 17 And now, O LORD, God of Israel, let your word that you promised your servant David come true.

18 "But will God really dwell on earth with men? The heavens, even the highest heavens, cannot contain you. How much less this temple I have built! 19 Yet give attention to your servant's prayer and his plea for mercy, O LORD my God. Hear the cry and the prayer that your servant is praying in your presence. 20 May your eyes be open toward this temple day and night, this place of which you said you would put your Name there. May you hear the prayer your servant prays toward this place. 21 Hear the supplications of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place; and when you hear, forgive.

22 "When a man wrongs his neighbor and is required to take an oath and he comes and swears the oath before your altar in this temple, 23 then hear from heaven and act. Judge between your servants, repaying the guilty by bringing down on his own head what he has done. Declare the innocent not guilty and so establish his innocence.

24 "When your people Israel have been defeated by an enemy because they have sinned against you and when they turn back and confess your name, praying and making supplication before you in this temple, 25 then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to them and their fathers.

26 "When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray toward this place and confess your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them, 27 then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel. Teach them the right way to live, and send rain on the land you gave your people for an inheritance.

28 "When famine or plague comes to the land, or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers, or when enemies besiege them in any of their cities, whatever disaster or disease may come, 29 and when a prayer or plea is made by any of your people Israel—each one aware of his afflictions and pains, and spreading out his hands toward this temple- 30 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive, and deal with each man according to all he does, since you know his heart (for you alone know the hearts of men), 31 so that they will fear you and walk in your ways all the time they live in the land you gave our fathers.

32 "As for the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of your great name and your mighty hand and your outstretched arm—when he comes and prays toward this temple, 33 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and do whatever the foreigner asks of you, so that all the peoples of the earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel, and may know that this house I have built bears your Name.

34 "When your people go to war against their enemies, wherever you send them, and when they pray to you toward this city you have chosen and the temple I have built for your Name, 35 then hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and uphold their cause.

36 "When they sin against you—for there is no one who does not sin—and you become angry with them and give them over to the enemy, who takes them captive to a land far away or near; 37 and if they have a change of heart in the land where they are held captive, and repent and plead with you in the land of their captivity and say, 'We have sinned, we have done wrong and acted wickedly'; 38 and if they turn back to you with all their heart and soul in the land of their captivity where they were taken, and pray toward the land you gave their fathers, toward the city you have chosen and toward the temple I have built for your Name; 39 then from heaven, your dwelling place, hear their prayer and their pleas, and uphold their cause. And forgive your people, who have sinned against you.

40 "Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.

41 "Now arise, O LORD God, and come to your resting place,
you and the ark of your might.
May your priests, O LORD God, be clothed with salvation,
may your saints rejoice in your goodness.

42 O LORD God, do not reject your anointed one.
Remember the great love promised to David your servant."

Coversation...

I'm starting to have this really cool conversation with a friend of my sister's. He is a philosophy major that used to be a Christian and has now reconsidered due to his studies. This reminds me of Professor Taylor who is a Philosophy professor at Westmont and whose class I took on Christian Apologetics. He went through a similar thing that the more he studied Philosophy, the more he questioned God until he had an unforgetable experience that changed his life. No matter how much he looked at things through the philosophical view, nothing could take away his supernatural experience that could not fit into any sort of box. If you would like to see at how the convo is developing, go here:

PSALM 27:13 - Thanks Mom

I am still confident of this:

I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

God thank you for giving me HOPE ;)

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Uma going cLaZy!!! And YES I meant to write an L instead of an R. U know how I is ghetto! shoooooot...

So there are many things in my life that are pulling and preoccupying my mind in different (not opposite) directions. Let's see, there 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 things that are in mind right now. I'm not going to list them all, but if you are my friend, I would PLEASE ask you to pray for me as I seek the LORD's will and peace and guidance in every single one of those!!!

Well, let's see, I guess I can tell you of one that has me kinda excited. One is that I have been going to Victory Outreach the last couple of Sundays and this guy recognized me because I had spoken to him a couple of years ago. We caught up and I told him that I had just finished Westmont and he said that they were looking for teachers in their new ministry that they were doing. I don't know details, but I got super excited since their focus is in inner cities!! *Okay Pablo calm down*

Well, because of a couple of those things up there I cannot say yes... at least yet. I just wish that all the things that I am going through came to a peaceful river where I can lay my head on the LORD's lap and He could tell me, "see, it's all over". But I'm not there yet...key word *YET*.

God I need you to ground me and comfort me and show me and teach me how to take things one step at a time. Teach me to listen to you more and more. Teach me to act at the RIGHT TIME!!! PLEASE!!!

Well, God... I'm at your disposal.
(Oh! I remembered another one so I just added #8) Anyway... God, touch my lips with hot coal and open my spiritual ears to Your Words!

I need you!!!

my chest hurts.....................................

Things a Changin'

So guess what here's what's up. I DID hear God when He spoke to me about Jenny. If I didn't then I would have a faith crisis here. Here are some options as to what happened. Well, either He said something and then I messed it up and He changed His mind or He knew that the only way that I would learn what He needed me to learn was by suffering through my relationship with Jenny. And, since He also knew that I would not date Jenny unless He told me that she was the one, He told me that she was the one so that I would date her AND learn AND glorify Him the most.

You Prostitute!!!

Um, are you a Christian? If yes, please keep reading...

Have you sinned? If yes, keep reading (YOU BETTER KEEP READING!!!)

My question to you: Why are you a prostitute?? Everyday, whoring yourself out?

Seriously though... think about it... You, as a Christian, are part of the church and the church is the bride of Christ.

So then, If you are married to Christ, how do you cheat on your husband Jesus Christ? Well, you choose something over Him. What you and I choose is SIN.

Quick answers:

Your PIMP: Satan

Your $10 Pay: The quick gratification and pleasure of momentary sin

Your consequences: MAN SO MANY!! Guilt hurts... so many more though...

Jesus, according to His Word, can "divorce" us, but He loves us so much that He continues to always be there... INTERCEDING for us too!!

The Bible says in Hosea 4:12:

My people [habitually] ask counsel of their [senseless] wood [idols], and their staff [of wood] gives them oracles {and} instructs them. For the spirit of harlotry has led them astray and they have played the harlot, withdrawing themselves from subjection to their God.

Clearly the LORD regards us as precious brides. Let's treat our LORD in the way that recognizes the marriage covenant that we are truly in with Him.

Sin is cheap, easy, the pay is good, and IT'S SO MUCH FUN!

BUT...

SIN IS DEFINITELY NOT TO DIE FOR!!!

Something New

So.... ummmm....

I'm confused.... I wish that I wasn't confused. It's like: how can two things make perfect sense yet the two things that make perfect sense are both in 100% opposition to one another. If you know me, then you know exactly what I'm talking about. Also, I never thought that it was possible for God to have two things "seemingly" opposite to one another. Let's tease this out further so that you know what I mean.

Everyone can usually remember the story of Moses and Egypt and the 10 plagues. And, since most people know about it, the thought is usually the same over and over and the teaching about it is usually the same over and over. So, what about this: God told Moses that His will was for His people to leave. However, God hardened Pharaoh's heart so that His people would not be able to leave. It seems that at the time, for God to achieve His greater purpose, He needed to go opposite to His seemingly immediate will in order to accomplish His people absolutely knowing that HE was the one true God. Also, check out 2 Samuel 24 where God tells David to count his people and then God punished David for doing so. It pretty much seems like God punished His people through David. I'm blabbing right now and I can be a lot more articulate. Check back in a few days and this will make sense, but meanwhile read 2 Samuel 24...

CHURCH + HOP HOP = UNITY IN CHRIST

Some FOOD FOR THOUGHT

"I have a dream that one day, down in Alabama, with its vicious racists, with its governor having his lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right there in Alabama, little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers."

Martin Luther King Jr. - "I Have a Dream" speech

EXPAND IT...

"I have a dream that one day [in the US] with its vicious racists, with its govern[ment] having...their lips dripping with the words of interposition and nullification; one day right [here in the USA], little black, [Hispanic, and Asian] boys and... girls [of all ages] will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers."

What in the History of the USA has even come close to doing this? Well, if you read my title you might be able to guess it: Hip Hop.

Selah

Let me ask you this:

Aren't we supposed to be in the World but not of the World?

Aren't we supposed to be like the Apostle Paul and be within the culture and redeem it for Christ and through Christ like he did in Mars Hill?

Isn't Christianity, in its most basic form, a relational lifestyle?

Then why are Christians saying that we must shun Hip Hop when Hip Hop is a culture?

Continuing Thought:

It seems like by shunning Hip Hop we are shunning the example of Paul in redeeming culture for Christ, we are shunning the lesson that the LORD taught Peter learned in Acts 10 in that God can make anything clean, we are shunning what Jesus did as He talked to the Samaritan woman or in crossing the sea of Galilee, and we are shunning away at the possibility of unity through races and generations.

Ahhhh! So many words and so little time!
