It's so easy to commit prostitution against the LORD. All we need to do is to realize that we need to commit adultery. To do this, we can simply look to the 10 Commandments in Exodus 20:3-5. Putting anything before the LORD, putting anything ABOVE the LORD is prostitution in His eyes. If we put anything above the LORD it is considered an idol. If we put anything above the LORD we are in a sense worshiping it. www.Dictionary. com defines worship as "reverent honor and homage paid to God or a sacred personage, or to any object regarded as sacred." When we put business, a person, a friendship, money... anything above the LORD we are honoring something above Him and therefore cheating on Him.
Again, it's so easy to become a prostitute again the LORD. The scary thing is what the LORD has done to His own people because of their prostitution. Just read Ezekiel 23 and it will become clear that we not only want be a prostitute towards the LORD because we want to honor Him, but we will also want to do it because of the consequences!
